Welcome! We have designed this section of our site specifically for members of the press and media. We have been fortunate enough to receive much national media attention and welcome media inquiries. We will do everything we can to assist you. Providing objective, credit card ratings has always been one of our main missions since our founding in 1998. We are extremely proud of the consumer-friendly reputation that we enjoy.

We are best known for our credit card ratings/reviews, including cardholder or consumer reviews and staff reviews. Upon request, we can provide you with an Excel file containing ratings for any credit card category (reward, student, business, low rate, etc.) that you are interested in. This type of data is particularly useful if you are considering using a graphic (table, chart, etc.) in your publication. Credit Card Data/Information:

• Cardholder/Consumer Credit Card Reviews:

  Our consumer reviews press form will allow you to search our cardholder reviews section. This section features reviews written by consumers (actual cardholders) throughout the country. As of 3/07, we offer almost 20,000 cardholder reviews of approximately 955 different credit cards. New reviews are added daily!

• Staff Credit Card Reviews:

  Our staff reviews press form will allow you to search our credit card directory. This section features detailed credit card data relating to card terms and conditions (we do not know of any other source of more detailed terms and conditions data) and staff reviews. As of 2/08, there are approximately 390 total credit cards listed in the directory.

  In 2008, we added a new feature added to the credit card directory. You can now view the average daily rates on various credit card fields such as ongoing purchase apr, introductory rate and the balance transfer rate.

  We are also proud to provide all of the data (card terms and conditions) for the official credit card and atm/debit survey published by the New York State Banking Department, the oldest bank regulatory agency in the nation. This survey contains data that is not contained in the staff reviews press form (above), such as information regarding which credit cards have the controversial universal default clause and foreign exchange fees. As far as we know, we are the only frequently updated source for this type of information (data is updated quarterly).

• Credit Card Statistics & Interest Rate Averages:

  We are proud to offer free current and historical data regarding the average interest rates on various types of credit cards, including standard cards, gold cards and platinum cards.

  Similarly, we are proud to offer current and historical data regarding the Wall Street Journal Prime Rate. The WSJ Prime Rate is the index used by most variable rate credit cards.

  We also offer credit card statistics from various sources that can be used by members of the press and media.

• Message Board Posts:

  Our active forum is a great place to get a pulse on consumer opinions and consumer experiences related to various credit issues. Our forum boasts approximately 100,000 posts. Many reporters request to interview members of our board and we will be glad to assist you with arranging an interview.

• Consumer Education Articles/News Stories:

  We are proud of the quality and quantity of the consumer credit related news stories and articles offered on our site. New articles are added on a regular basis. You may reprint or quote select articles with our blessings.

• Free FICO Score Simulator:

  Consumers can use our free FICO score simulator to get a good idea of what their FICO credit score is. The score simulator is based on a brief online questionnaire. Fair Isaac's FICO score is widely recognized as the industry standard for lenders.

  We strongly recommend that all consumers have a good idea of what their FICO score is before applying for a credit card (since credit card rates and credit lines vary based on your credit score). Please note that consumers can obtain their actual credit score from Fair Issac for $14.95 (includes a credit report from one of the three major credit bureaus).   If you are looking for the definition of a particular consumer credit related term, please try our glossary. We currently offer definitions for 277 terms/phrases.
