Editor Analysis:

Pros
  • Earn 5% cash back on Instacart app and Instacart.com purchases as well on Chase Travel℠ purchases. You can also earn 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations, and on select streaming services, then 1% cash back on everything else.
  • Receive an entire year of free delivery when you are approved for the account plus a $100 credit for you to spend on Instacart purchases.
  • Share the benefits that are associated with this card with another person of your choosing, at no extra cost.
Cons
  • There's no annual fee, however, if you aren't a regular Instacart user you'll likely fare better with a more generic cash-back credit card.

Calling all grocery and big-box store delivery aficionados: you may be missing out on some major benefits if you don’t have and use the CardName ! Not only does this card give you the opportunity to earn a high rate of cash back on your orders, but it comes with a whole bevy of extras that are associated with Chase, the issuing bank.

To know whether or not this account is right for you, read on.

Does the CardName earn cash back?

Yes. You can earn 5% cash back on all Instacart app and Instacart.com purchases as well as on Chase Travel purchases. You will also get 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations, and on select streaming services, then 1% cash back on everything else.

Here’s how much you might earn:

Since the highest cash-back rewards rate is extended to Instacart and travel purchases, at 5%, imagine you charged $15,000 in a year on these combined expenses. That calculates out to $750 in rewards. But say you also spent $5,000 in assorted purchases in the 2% back category, earning you $100, and $1,000 in the 1% cash-back category, earning $10. All totaled you would net $860 for the year in rewards.

Regarding redeeming your accumulated rewards, you can use them as a statement credit, as a cash direct deposit, or to pay for travel when you book through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.

Instacart free delivery with Chase

You may like the convenience of having things that you order come to your home, but dislike the fees that are associated with it. This is where the CardName shines. You will receive an entire year of free delivery when you are approved for the account. Membership will automatically renew at a rate of $99 per year but if you don’t want to proceed you can cancel anytime. When your membership is in effect, you will not be charged a delivery fee on orders that are over $35, and will qualify for a lower fee on orders that are less than that threshold.

Another instant benefit? A $100 credit for you to spend on Instacart purchases. You’ll get the bonus when you are approved for the account.

Other Chase Instacart credit card benefits

This card also gives you a perk for pick-ups. You will receive 5% credit back on the items you order and then retrieve on your own. You can also share the benefits that are associated with this card with another person of your choosing, at no extra fee.

But that’s not all. Because the CardName is issued by Chase, a wide span of extras are included with the account. Travel, especially, will be made easy and the benefits can save you money. This card comes with 24/7 concierge service, baggage delay insurance and lost luggage reimbursement, purchase protection, extended warranty, travel accident insurance, roadside assistance, and an auto rental collision damage waiver.

Want to take this card overseas? It’s a good choice because there are no foreign transaction fees that would increase the cost of your international purchases.

And if you do want to manage the cost of a large debt over time, you can take advantage of the My Chase Plan where you can pay eligible purchases of $100 or more in equal monthly payments for a fixed monthly fee. The APR for this card is RegAPR, so taking advantage of this feature can be financially prudent.

CardName credit score requirements

To qualify for the CardName your credit should be in the good to excellent range, which typically means a score of between 670 and 850.

What are the potential downsides of the CardName?

Because the CardName does not charge an annual fee, you don’t lose anything by having it. On the other hand, the benefits won’t be impressive if you do not use Instacart much.

CardName vs. CardName

discontinued

Of course CardName is not the only delivery card in town. CardName also has plenty of benefits for having things come to you. The CardName was designed for frequent DoorDash and Caviar users. Also issued by Chase, it has no annual fee, and offers 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders. Beyond that, you will earn 3% cash back on dining directly through the restaurant, 2% cash back at grocery stores, and 1% cash back on everything else. You will also get a complimentary 12-month DashPass membership, which normally costs $96 per year. You’ll also get 10% off one convenience, grocery, alcohol, retail or DashMart order every month, with a maximum discount of $15 per order (offer expires 12/31/2024).

Which card is the best match for you depends on the companies you use. A DoorDash Mastercard makes sense if you’re a DoorDash and Caviar customer, but the CardName is a better choice for Instacart users. But be aware that the CardName also has a better cash-back rate on both Instacart and travel purchases, at 5%, though it only gives 2% back on restaurants as opposed to CardName‘s 3%.

CardName vs. CardName

discontinued

CardName is a terrific card for grocery store, dining, entertainment, and streaming service purchases, since it will give you 3% cash back on those spending categories (and 1% back on everything else). Like the CardName, there is no annual fee, but unlike it, this card offers a $200 cash bonus once you spend $500 on purchases within the first three months from account opening

A compelling feature that is not included with the CardName is the 0% intro APR for 15 months, both on purchases and balance transfers (before regular RegAPR; balance transfer fee applies). If that’s what you’re looking for, the Capital One SavorOne card is a solid choice. If deciding between the two cards, consider if you really need the financing-free time period. Moreover, the CardName does not offer the Instacart membership and credits.

Is the CardName a good card?

The CardName is definitely worth considering if you are a regular user of this company. The first year will be particularly beneficial because you’ll get the membership for free. If you are already a member, you know how valuable it is because the delivery fees for Instacart can really add up. Before applying, project your upcoming habits. If you don’t think you’ll be using Instacart much, it’s likely not worth pursuing, but if you will, you can come out ahead with the cash rewards and assorted perks.

Our Methodology

Survey methodology: CardRatings commissioned Op4G in September 2023 to conduct surveys among 1,869 cardholders nationwide. CardRatings website analytics from Jan. 1, 2023-Aug. 31, 2023 were used to determine a selection of the most popular cards and additional cards were included to add survey breadth. Responses to each of nine questions were given on a scale of 1-10 and respondents’ scores were then averaged under broad topics. To determine the overall score, responses from questions 1-8 were summed and the answer to "How likely are you to recommend this card to a friend, coworker or family member?" was double weighted. Current Scores reflect scores from the most recent survey (2023); “Past Scores” reflect scores from the 2022 survey.
